Floating Ecological Sentinel is an offshore research platform designed to monitor and support the long-term recovery of marine ecosystems damaged by the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Extending ecological research beyond the coastline, the project proposes a marine outpost that continuously observes changes in water quality, marine organisms, seabird movement, and underwater habitats.

The expandable triangular modules use buoyancy and ballast systems to remain stable in offshore conditions. Research laboratories, analysis and fabrication spaces, living quarters, and an aquatic observatory are integrated into the platform. Vertical bladeless wind-energy devices reduce the risk of bird collisions, while the surfaces beneath the platform are designed to support algae, barnacles, and small marine organisms. The architecture therefore functions not only as a facility for observing the ocean, but also as living infrastructure that directly supports ecological recovery.
