Nexus was developed as part of an architectural reuse workshop in Florence, focusing on the archaeological area of Fiesole, Italy. The brief called for the adaptive reuse of the existing Roman theater together with the introduction of a new museum within the site. To preserve the visibility and historic character of the ruins, the project places the museum underground, while a lightweight roof is introduced above the theater to support its renewed use as a performance space.

The proposal creates connections between ancient remains and contemporary interventions, between different levels of the terrain, and between architecture and landscape. The underground museum and the elevated theater roof share the same rectangular order and alignment, establishing a relationship between concealment and revelation, past and present. A network of ramps, wooden trails, and natural paths improves accessibility and connects the wider archaeological site, allowing visitors to gradually discover its historical layers. Concrete, wood, and a lightweight steel structure introduce a contemporary architectural layer that responds to the ground, vegetation, and sky without imitating the ancient ruins.
