Slope begins with a question: Can a newly redeveloped housing complex become an open urban environment that remains connected to its neighborhood rather than forming an isolated residential enclave? Large housing developments often enclose their boundaries and organize the site primarily around residents, interrupting pedestrian routes that previously passed through the area. Slope proposes an alternative model — a series of sloped housing volumes that layer public passage below and private residential life above — preserving urban continuity while still protecting residential privacy and security.

A series of modular housing blocks is arranged in response to the site's irregular geometry, with each volume designed at a different height. This variation reduces blocked views between buildings and allows more residences to receive broader outlooks and natural daylight. Rather than imposing a standardized apartment layout, the housing configuration follows the distinctive form of the site and introduces a range of unit types for one- and two-person households.

To prevent the new development from obstructing existing movement, the center of the site is opened as a pedestrian route accessible to the public. Sloped structures are positioned along both sides of this central passage, creating a layered separation between public circulation and residential life. The landscaped gardens and courtyards above the slopes are reserved exclusively for residents, providing secure and private communal outdoor spaces separated from the movement below.

Beneath the slopes are cafes, restaurants, laundromats, fitness facilities, and other everyday amenities, together with community spaces intended for residents. Relying solely on the housing complex's population would make these programs economically unviable. Selected commercial and service spaces are therefore connected to the central passage and opened to the surrounding neighborhood, creating a broader and more sustainable user base. Local visitors gain a new pedestrian connection and access to useful amenities, while residents benefit from nearby services and private landscaped spaces above. Through this mutually supportive relationship, Slope transforms the housing complex from an isolated development into a residential platform integrated with the existing city.
